Wedding Flowers By Season-Spring

Wedding Flowers By Season-Spring

Here in northeast Ohio, we can't wait for the first Spring buds to pop through the snow. Winter seems so long-- unless you are a skier, sorry-- and we are looking forward to being outside again. There has been a growing ( pardon the pun) movement focusing on using “in-season, locally grown flowers”. Fortunately for us, there has also a lot of new flower farmers in our surrounding communities. Boss Lady is even trying her hand at flower farming to add another dimension to our designs and her knowledge.

For this post, we are going to divide our Spring season into early (mid-March and April) and late (may-mid-June)

Most of our local farmers use mid-April (often Easter) as their benchmark for the first available flowers but as with all crops, weather plays a HUGE factor when plants bloom. Other factors as to when these early blooming flowers become available are whether they are grown in a hoop house or field grown

Some of our favorite early Spring flowers are:

  • anemone
  • ranunculus
  • hyacinth
  • hellebore
  • tulips

Late Spring

  • lilac
  • peony
  • snapdragons
  • varigated solomon's seal
  • dianthus

We love all the color of spring and can't wait for what this wedding season will hold.
